Sean Shin-Ji Yoshikawa 吉川伸示
My name is Sean Shin-Ji Yoshikawa. I was born and raised in Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun.

In 1987, I came to New York to pursue a creative life. I began my career as a professional
Japanese landscape designer, creating Zen gardens and offering Feng Shui consultations.

Through this work, I gradually felt called toward a deeper path of natural healing and self-cultivation.

Over the past three decades, I have devoted myself to the study and practice of traditional disciplines, including Japanese hand-healing methods, Zen, and Shinto-Animism. These traditions have guided
my lifelong journey of personal development, spiritual awareness, and Reiki healing.

Now I am a certified Jikiden Reiki practitioner and teacher. Jikiden Reiki is a traditional form of Reiki
that has been faithfully preserved and passed down in Kyoto, Japan.
Through this lineage, I am a fourth-generation practitioner connected to Reiki’s founder, Mikao Usui.

My Japanese Reiki sessions support both body and mind, helping address concerns such as stress, fatigue, insomnia, digestive imbalance, body aches, and emotional tension. Clients often experience deep relaxation, renewed energy, mental clarity, and a stronger connection to their inner selves.

In addition to Reiki sessions, I offer guidance in meditation and self-cultivation practices
for those who wish to deepen their personal journey,
as well as life coaching to support balance and personal growth.

Each session is offered with respect, presence, and the traditional spirit of Japanese Reiki.

I live a life of purpose and gratitude, and I am honored to share the knowledge
and experience I have gained through many years of study and practice.

My mission is simple: to serve others through the healing practice of Japanese Reiki.

Description of a Reiki session

Reiki healing session usually lasts 60 to 90 minutes. A brief discussion will occur before the session. Reiki practitioners will describe the Reiki session to the client and allow them to discuss any particular problems or issues they are experiencing. Reiki practitioners may also ask what their clients hope to achieve from their sessions.

During the Reiki session, the recipient's comfort is of utmost importance. They will rest on a treatment table, fully clothed and with their shoes removed, ensuring a relaxing and stress-free experience. Unlike massage therapy, there is no need to remove articles of clothing, and the recipient is always fully clothed; loose, comfortable clothing is suggested, and jeans are not recommended. Also, please avoid wearing pieces, necklaces, and heavy make-up for the healing sessions.

Each Reiki session is usually hands-on, with a practitioner applying a light touch to the recipient's body. However, if recipients prefer not to be touched, they can inform the practitioner before the Reiki healing session begins. Then, the Reiki session will be hands-off, with the practitioner holding their hands slightly above the recipient's body.

The Reiki healing session proceeds with the practitioner moving through different hand positions over the recipient's body. The recipient may feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session or nothing at all but sheer relaxation. The session should be pleasant, relaxing, and invigorating. Although the recipient fell asleep during the session, it's perfectly alright. you will still receive all of the session's benefits.
