How to optimize your Reiki session
Below is a list of ideas to take into consideration both before and after your session. Remember, your Reiki session is always catered toward your deepest healing, so finding what works best for you is key.
Before your session
Relax and Reflect
Give yourself at least 30 minutes before the session to sit and reflect, particularly checking in with how your body is feeling and anything you are noticing with regards to emotions, thoughts or physical sensations.
Take some time to breathe and also tend to whatever your body's needs might be on that given day. You may also want to reflect on any intentions you want to set for your session and anything you want to share with your therapist before you begin.
Avoid eating a heavy meal beforehand, as you don’t want all of your body’s energy to be directed toward digesting while you’re receiving your treatment.

After your session
Do not rush to get up from the treatment table!
Gradually come back to reality.
Take at least 10 minutes to meditate or continue to lie down at where you are.
After leaving the session, as your body's energy system is moving at a more optimum rate,
it is beneficial to spend some quiet time alone to journal or to contemplate.
Go for a walk in nature or even take a nap.
You may have some insights and further mental clarity as your mind and body
continues to process the Reiki healing session.
Not to book or schedule anything immediately after your session is the key.
Minimize social activities, avoid social media, and spend the rest of the day in a quiet environment.

Integrate
Many of the treatment benefits can occur as soon as after the session is over and as such, it’s important to find somewhere quiet and relaxing to integrate what may arise.
Hydrate
After doing any type of energy work it’s important to hydrate, so be sure to drink 1-2 glasses of water after your session. I find adding electrolytes to your water can also be helpful, as it helps to replenish the body.
Reflect
It’s often helpful to spend some time after the session reflecting, so I often recommend that clients journal, draw or somehow capture any insights they had during and immediately after the session.

Whatever you choose to do, find an activity that helps you connect to what you've experienced
so you can draw on it in the future.
